The Water Authority welcomed new Board Members this month with a tour of their facilities across Grand Cayman. Minister of District Administration, Works and Gender Affairs Honourable Juliana O’Connor-Connolly JP, MLA, and Permanent Secretary Kearney Gomez MBE, JP were also in attendance.
The tour of the facilities, which took place on 16 September, began with a visit to the Water Authority’s Administration Building on Red Gate Road. The guests then visited the Water Authority’s newest water production plant in North Side, which was commissioned earlier this year on 29 July. Following the visit to North Side, the group visited the facility in Lower Valley. The tour concluded with a visit to the Water Authority’s Wastewater Treatment Plant where guests were able to observe the state-of-the-art sequencing batch reactor.
“On behalf of the Board members and Mr Gomez, I would like to congratulate the Water Authority on the recent opening of their newest water production plant in North Side,” said Ms O’Connor-Connolly.
“This facility is indicative of the Water Authority’s continued commitment to ensuring that our infrastructure can meet the future needs of our population in a reliable, affordable and sustainable manner.”
“We are very pleased to welcome the Hon Minister Mrs O’Connor-Connolly, Permanent Secretary Mr. Gomez and the newest members of the Water Authority Board,” said Dr Gelia Frederick-van Genderen, Water Authority Director.
“We look forward to working with each of them to realise our objectives as we navigate through the current economic times toward a brighter future.”
